WoW Forever Warrior talent builds: Weaponmaster, Raging Blows and shield tanking
Forever changes how Warriors gain Rage and reshapes all three trees. How Arms, Fury and Protection build, which milestones matter, and why Fury is still moving.
Warriors in WoW Forever are still melee specialists who can tank or deal damage, with strong sustained damage against several targets. The biggest change is Rage. It is more predictable, crits generate much more of it, and tanks no longer lose Rage to armor or absorbs. Each tree also gets new talents, and Fury was reorganized again on October 1.
These are build directions, not point-by-point optimal builds. Talents are still changing in beta. Plan your own points in the WoW Forever Warrior talent calculator.
How Forever talents work
Talents start at level 10, with one-point milestones at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points. Talents are changed at a class trainer in a major city, and dual specialization unlocks at level 40. Source: Blizzard's Priest and Warrior class deep dive.
What every Warrior gets
- Rage from taking damage ignores your armor and absorbs, so better gear and Power Word: Shield no longer starve a tank of Rage.
- Rage from dealing damage scales with weapon speed. The October 8 beta notes raised the bonus from critical strikes to 100% more Rage.
- Tactical Mastery is baseline at level 14 and keeps 10 Rage when you change stances.
- Victory Rush at level 20 becomes usable after killing an enemy. It scales with attack power and heals 10% of maximum health.
- Recklessness, Retaliation and Shield Wall no longer share a cooldown.
- Thunder Clap scales with attack power, works in Defensive Stance and has a 6-second cooldown. Rend also scales strongly with attack power.
- Battle Shout includes the old Improved Battle Shout.
- Sunder Armor can be applied even if a stronger Expose Armor is active, and its threat scales with attack power.
Blizzard notes Warriors have a broad toolkit but struggle to recover from heavy damage.
Arms: two-handed weapons and Overpower
- Improved Tactical Mastery keeps more Rage on stance changes, up to 25.
- Improved Overpower moved to row 2.
- Spearing Strike is the 16-point milestone. It costs 15 Rage, dismounts the target, and deals double damage to mounted targets, Dragons and Giants. It now requires Battle Stance instead of a two-handed weapon.
- Bloodthrill lets main-hand attacks on targets with your Rend activate Overpower.
- Weaponmaster replaces the axe, mace, sword and polearm specializations. Axes and polearms add crit, maces and staves ignore armor, and swords can grant an extra attack.
- Improved Slam moved from Fury. Slam no longer delays your auto attacks.
- Deep Wounds is required again to reach Impale.
Direction: Arms connects Rend to Overpower through Bloodthrill, and Weaponmaster gives every two-handed weapon type a talented bonus. That makes Arms flexible about the weapons your guild's loot actually produces.
Fury: dual wield damage
- Blood Craze also triggers from large single hits and Bloodthirst.
- Dual Wield Specialization adds off-hand hit chance.
- Raging Blows is the 16-point milestone. Whirlwind hits with both weapons while dual-wielding.
- Precision adds hit chance.
- Death Wish now increases all damage taken while active. After October 1, Flurry requires Death Wish instead of Enrage.
- Bloodthirst no longer heals. It grants 10% movement speed, and its attack power ratio rose on October 1.
The October 1 beta notes moved many Fury talents so the tree offers utility earlier. They added Lingering Rage, Furious Precision and Gore Drinker, removed Improved Cleave and Boundless Rage, reworked Booming Voice, and moved Berserker Rage to level 30.
Direction: Fury is a dual-wield tree that turns Whirlwind into a two-weapon attack through Raging Blows. Because Blizzard reorganized it two weeks before this guide, treat any Fury build from before October 1 as outdated.
Protection: shield tanking
- Shield Specialization blocks can grant 5 Rage.
- Master of Defense gives a chance for 5 Rage on dodge or parry with a shield.
- Defiance now requires a shield for its threat bonus.
- Vanguard is the 16-point milestone. Charge works in Defensive Stance.
- Improved Shield Wall cuts Shield Wall's cooldown sharply.
- Bastion raises all damage while you hold a shield, and Focused Rage lowers the Rage cost of offensive abilities.
- Shield Slam scales more from block value.
The October 1 notes removed Toughness and moved several early Protection talents between rows.
Direction: Protection in Forever turns blocks, dodges and parries into extra Rage, which pays off with shield and avoidance gear. Vanguard at 16 points gives a tank a gap closer without leaving Defensive Stance.
About the calculator data
The GuildManager calculator uses BlizzCon demo data dated September 13, 2026. The Warrior trees have changed most since then. Our data still includes Improved Cleave, Boundless Rage and Protection's Toughness, which were removed on October 1. It does not yet include Lingering Rage, Furious Precision or Gore Drinker. Fury and Protection row positions in our data are also from before the October 1 reshuffle. Treat Warrior builds in the calculator as rough sketches until the data is updated.
For officers
Warriors can tank or deal damage, and Battle Shout and Sunder Armor still matter to the raid. Expose Armor no longer blocks Sunder Armor, so agree who maintains armor reduction. Ask each Warrior for a main and second role, since dual specialization at 40 makes an off-tank easy to plan. See our raid sizes and roster planning guide.
