WoW Forever Warlock talent builds: Wrack, Demonic Pact and Bane of Havoc
Forever turns Warlock curses into Banes and adds new capstones to every tree. How Affliction, Demonology and Destruction build, and where our calculator differs.
Warlocks in WoW Forever remain physically weak casters who rely on demons for protection, but almost every tree has new goals. Affliction gets a new channel called Wrack, Demonology can finally combine Demonic Sacrifice with Master Demonologist through Demonic Pact, and Destruction gets Bane of Havoc and Incinerate.
These are build directions, not point-by-point optimal builds. Talents are still changing in beta. Plan your own points in the WoW Forever Warlock talent calculator.
How Forever talents work
Talents start at level 10, with one-point milestones at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points. Talents are changed at a class trainer in a major city, and dual specialization unlocks at level 40. Source: Blizzard's Rogue and Warlock class deep dive, published October 7.
What every Warlock gets
- Curse of Agony and Curse of Doom are now Banes. Each Warlock can keep only one Bane on a target, and talents that affected those curses now affect Banes.
- Curse of the Elements applies to all magic damage. Curse of Shadows is gone.
- Firestone and Spellstone are now weapon imbues that stack with oils. Firestone boosts Fire damage and crit, and Spellstone boosts Shadow damage and haste.
- Life Tap scales with Spirit.
- Drain Soul has a rising chance per tick to give a Soul Shard, until it is guaranteed.
- Demons scale from your stats.
Troll Warlocks are also new in Forever.
Affliction: damage over time and drains
- Suppression now adds hit and reduces threat.
- Malediction raises periodic damage from your spells.
- Improved Drains raises the damage and healing of Drain Life, Drain Soul and Wrack.
- Pandemic raises the crit damage of your Banes, Corruption, drains, Siphon Life and Wrack, by up to 100%.
- Nightfall can now trigger from Drain Soul and Wrack.
- Curse of Exhaustion is the 16-point milestone, a 30% slow.
- Soul Siphon makes your drains stronger for each other Affliction spell on the target.
- Wrack is the 31-point milestone. It deals Shadow damage every second and makes the target take 10% more from your other Shadow damage-over-time effects for 6 seconds.
Direction: Affliction stacks effects on one target, then drains it. Soul Siphon and Wrack both reward having several of your spells on the same enemy. The drains also heal you, which Blizzard highlights as Affliction's self-sustain.
Demonology: you and your demon
- Improved Health Funnel moves more health with up to no threat, at any demon health.
- Fel Vitality raises your demon's health and mana, and your own mana.
- Demonic Energies heals your demon from your spell damage and shares Life Tap mana with it.
- Demonic Sacrifice is the 11-point milestone. Sacrifice effects now last 2 hours. The Imp gives Shadow damage, the Voidwalker mana, the Succubus or Incubus Fire damage, and the Felhunter health.
- Fel Domination is the 16-point milestone and requires Master Summoner.
- Decimation makes Soul Fire a fast, shard-free finisher after Shadow Bolt or Searing Pain hits a target below 35% health.
- Demonic Brand lets Searing Pain mark a target so your demon's next two attacks deal Fire or Shadow damage. Shadow damage from a tanking demon generates high threat.
- Soul Link is the 21-point milestone.
- Demonic Knowledge adds spell damage to you and your demon based on your level.
- Master Demonologist gives different bonuses for each demon.
- Demonic Pact is the 31-point milestone. Summoning a different demon no longer cancels Demonic Sacrifice, so you can keep a sacrifice bonus and a Master Demonologist bonus at once.
Direction: Demonology is two builds in one. For solo and leveling play, Demonic Brand and Demonic Energies help a Voidwalker hold enemies. For group damage, Demonic Pact lets you sacrifice one demon and then summon another for its Master Demonologist bonus.
Destruction: Fire and Shadow burst
- Destructive Reach now applies to all damaging spells and sits in row 1.
- Bane moved to row 1 and now also applies to Incinerate.
- Molten Skin reduces all damage you take.
- Aftermath strengthens Immolate's initial hit and lets Conflagrate daze.
- Ruin sits in row 3 at 5 points.
- Conflagrate is the 16-point milestone, and Fire and Brimstone raises its crit chance.
- Bane of Havoc is the 21-point milestone. While it lasts, 15% of your damage to other targets is also dealt to the cursed target.
- Shadow and Flame links Conflagrate and Shadowburn, with each boosting the other school.
- Incinerate is the 31-point milestone, a 2.5-second Fire spell that hits 25% harder on targets with Immolate.
Direction: Destruction builds around Immolate, Conflagrate and Incinerate. Bane of Havoc keeps damage flowing to a priority target while you handle others, which makes it useful in dungeon pulls with a key enemy.
About the calculator data
The GuildManager calculator uses BlizzCon demo data dated September 13, 2026. Blizzard's October 7 deep dive lists Wrack as Affliction's 31-point milestone. Our data still shows Drain Hope there. The beta notes also renamed Soul Harvesting to Soul Harvest. Use the deep dive's Affliction list until the calculator data is updated.
For officers
Warlocks bring Curse of the Elements for all magic damage, but each Warlock can keep only one Bane on a target, and Curse of Shadows no longer exists. Ask your Warlocks who covers which curse, and which demon each will use. See our raid sizes and roster planning guide.
