How to create a legion in Aion 2, and what most guides get wrong

A surprising amount of published Aion 2 legion information is unverified, and some of it traces back to an AI-generated page. Here is what actually checks out against Korean sources, and what to ignore.

How to create a legion in Aion 2, and what most guides get wrong

Start by distrusting the guides

Search for how to create a legion in Aion 2 and you will get confident, specific answers: level 5 to create, a Legion Founder NPC in your race's capital, a 12-character name limit, a 128-member cap, a legion hall with a storage manager, a Legion Coin currency, fortress sieges.

We went looking for sources for those claims against Korean material, since Aion 2 has been live in Korea and Taiwan since November 2025. Most of them do not hold up. Several trace back to an AI-generated page on NCSOFT's own community site that carries its own disclaimer saying the answer may differ from actual game content, and which English content farms then repeated as fact. The Korean-language results for "legion creation requirements" mostly describe Aion 1, the 2009 game, which had a level 10 requirement and NPCs in Elysea and Pandaemonium.

We published some of those claims ourselves in an earlier version of this article. They have been removed.

Here is the honest split.

What is actually verified

A legion has a master (군단장) and an officer corps. Officers hold real authority, including renting the hideout.

Application-based recruitment exists and is the norm. Korean recruitment ads gate on combat power, commonly in the 500,000 to 900,000 range, plus role, timezone, and mandatory Discord. There is a 24-hour cooldown before you can re-join a legion after leaving, which matters more than it sounds: members cannot casually shop around.

The legion hideout (레기온 아지트) is a rented airship. It costs 1,000,000 Kinah for 23 days and 15 hours, it can only be rented by an officer, and it is paid out of that person's own pocket because there is no legion treasury. It has no upgrade path. The only content we can confirm inside it is co-located crafting NPCs. You can also dive off it.

The Korean player verdict on it is blunt. One representative comment: legions have no functions at all, the million-Kinah airship is genuinely useless, do not buy it.

Shipped legion features, in full: creation, a legion cape, legion chat, legion search, an activity log, the rented hideout, and Kisk. That is the list.

What does not exist

These are not "unconfirmed". Developers have said they are absent.

No legion warehouse. Denied twice, once pre-launch and again on 3 February 2026, in the form of "we don't feel the need for it, no plans to introduce it."

No legion levels and no legion buffs. There is no mechanical advantage to being in a good legion.

No fortress siege. This one causes real confusion, so it is worth being precise about, below.

No Legion Coin. Not in Inven's complete Aion 2 currency reference.

No legion crafting. NCSOFT said so on 11 August 2026, adding that it is not legion PvP.

No legion tournaments or legion rankings. Ranking points have been individual and PvP-only since February 2026. A legion-versus-legion mode exists in datamined strings and was scrapped after community backlash.

What we could not verify

Treat every one of these as unknown, not as true:

  • The character level needed to create a legion
  • The Kinah creation fee
  • Any legion name length limit
  • The member cap. The commonly quoted 128 is content-farm only. The largest legion we found self-reports around 70 members.
  • The number of rank tiers, whether rank names are customisable, and the permission matrix
  • Whether open-join and password-protected legions exist. Only application-based joining is demonstrably in the game; the three-mode triad comes from that AI-generated page.

The rank-name trap

If you played the original Aion you remember Brigade General, Centurion, Legionary. That ladder did not carry over.

Worse, the Korean terms are actively misleading now. 백부장, 천부장 and 군단장 in Aion 2 are Abyss gear tiers, not guild ranks. If you search for them expecting rank information you will find equipment, and if you write a guide asserting them as ranks you will be confidently wrong in a way that any actual player spots immediately.

Sieges: what actually happens on Wednesday and Saturday

There is a large scheduled PvP event, and it is not a siege in the Aion 1 sense.

아티팩트 점령전, Artifact Occupation, runs Wednesday and Saturday at 22:00 server time. It is contested race against race, Elyos versus Asmodian, open to the entire faction. There is no legion gate and no legion registration. The winning faction gets 48 hours of exclusive access to the Abyss Corridor.

All rewards are individual and weekly-capped per character. The game pays your legion nothing for winning.

Legions absolutely do muster for it, and leaders care intensely about it, because turnout decides the outcome for your whole faction. But understand what you are organising: a voluntary faction-wide event where your legion's contribution is showing up in numbers, not a competitive objective your legion owns.

So what is a legion actually for?

Given no buffs, no levels, no warehouse, no crafting, no rankings, and a hideout most players call useless, the honest answer is that an Aion 2 legion is a social and scheduling construct and nothing else.

That is not a criticism of the game, and it is not an argument that legions do not matter. It means the entire value of your legion is the people in it and whether they show up. There is no mechanical layer to hide behind.

The scarce resources in Aion 2 are time and Odyle Energy (오드 에너지), the personal stamina currency that gates reward claims. Both are per-character and non-transferable. A group that falls apart at form-up has burned something its members cannot get back, which is why reliability matters more here than in games where you can simply run it again tomorrow.

A sane first-week setup

  1. Lock faction and server first. Legions are single-faction and single-server. This is effectively irreversible, so decide before recruiting.
  2. Create the legion. Set recruitment to application-based, which appears to be the only mode you can rely on.
  3. Keep the rank structure small. Leader, officer, member. Until the permission matrix is confirmed, do not design around ranks you have not seen.
  4. Skip the loot rule. Aion 2 rewards are personal and mostly bound, so there is nothing to distribute. See Aion 2 loot explained for the one party setting that does matter.
  5. Do not buy the hideout yet. A million Kinah for 23 days, out of one officer's pocket, for crafting NPCs. Wait until someone in your legion has actually stood on it.
  6. Put Wednesday and Saturday 22:00 on the calendar if your faction runs Artifact Occupation, and treat turnout as the thing you are organising.
  7. Set your first three events before you have anyone to fill them. A calendar with things on it recruits better than a promise.

Party sizes

Parties are 5, the first raid is 10 run as two 5-player groups, and a Force is four parties, so 20. A Force is an ad-hoc construct, not a legion one, and the 10-player raid is two parties rather than a Force.

Those numbers changed in the Korean Chapter 1 update on 1 July 2026, and global launches on that build. Guides written before July describe 4-player dungeons and 8-player raids. More detail in Aion 2 party and raid sizes.

Dates

Global Early Access opens 30 September 2026 for Founder's Pack owners. Free-to-play access follows on 5 October 2026. PC only, through Steam and NCSOFT's PURPLE launcher.

The five-day gap matters for recruiting. During Early Access the only people in the game are the ones who paid, a small and unusually committed population. Legions formed then start free-to-play launch with a working roster.

Everything above is sourced from Korean primary material including NCSOFT developer statements, the official guidebook, patch notes, and player reports on Inven, Ruliweb and DCInside. Where a specific is Korean-confirmed but not separately confirmed for global, we have not presented it as a global fact. We will update this page as the global build is verified in play.
