How to migrate from TLGM to GuildManager: a step-by-step guide
Move a TL Guild Manager guild into a new community, an existing community or a guild you already run on GuildManager. Who can start it, each step, what comes across and what stays behind.
TL Guild Manager (TLGM) is the Throne and Liberty guild tool that became GuildManager. The same team builds both, and new work happens on GuildManager. Our announcement post explains the change.
This guide is the practical part: how to move a TLGM guild over, step by step. The move now has three destinations, including copying a full TLGM guild into a Throne and Liberty guild you already run on GuildManager.
Before you start
Only the guild's owner can start the copy. Sign in to GuildManager with the same Discord account that owns the guild in TLGM. If the accounts differ, the copy will not start.
Finish open auctions and loot rolls in TLGM. The copy refuses to start while any are still open. Close or settle them first.
Check your static parties. Each party can hold up to 6 members, each plan up to 100 parties, and each guild up to 500 plans. Plans outside those limits block the copy until you fix them.
Know what happens to TLGM. When you confirm, the TLGM guild turns read-only right away, and its subscription stops renewing after the copy.
No paid plan is needed to migrate. The Free plan has no member cap. If you had paid time left in TLGM, eligible time carries over as Core access.
Step 1: start in TLGM
Guild owners start the move from TLGM. The TLGM migration guide walks through the TLGM side. TLGM then sends you to GuildManager with a migration link. If you are signed out, you sign in with Discord first.
The link expires after 30 minutes. If it does, go back to TLGM and create a new one.
Step 2: choose the type
GuildManager opens the TL GuildManager migration page, with three steps: Type, Destination and Confirm. Choose one of three types:
| Type | What it does | Good fit |
|---|---|---|
| New community | Copies the whole guild into a new community, including its settings, roles and profile | Guilds that have not used GuildManager yet |
| Existing community | Adds the guild and any sub-guilds as new guilds in a community you run | Communities that already run other guilds or games on GuildManager |
| Existing guild | Copies members, events, wishlists, builds, gear details, static parties, DKP and supported history into a Throne and Liberty guild you own | Guilds that already started on GuildManager and want their TLGM history too |
Existing community needs a community where you can create guilds, with enough free guild slots. Existing guild lists only Throne and Liberty guilds owned by you or your community.
Step 3: pick the destination
For an existing community, choose it under Pick a community. Each one shows how many guild slots it has used. For an existing guild, choose it under Pick a guild. A new community skips this step.
If you copied this guild before, GuildManager offers to refresh that earlier import, and the refresh goes to the same place.
Step 4: confirm and start the copy
The Confirm the destination page shows where the guild comes from, where it goes, what gets added and what stays the same. For an existing guild, your guild's identity, permissions, settings and integrations stay as they are. Existing character details and DKP balances are kept, and missing data is added.
Click Start the copy. It usually takes a few minutes. You can leave the page, and the copy keeps going.
Step 5: check the guild, then close TLGM
When the copy finishes, the page says the guild is in GuildManager, with two buttons: Open your guild and Close it in TL GuildManager. Look through members, DKP and recent activities first. When everything looks right, close the old guild in TLGM so members move over.
Members do not need a new account. They sign in to GuildManager with the Discord account they used on TLGM, and they are matched to their characters by Discord ID.
If you created a new community, invite the GuildManager bot to your Discord server and verify it under the community's Discord settings. Announcements and reminders wait until the bot is connected.
What comes across
A full copy brings over:
- Members who are active or on leave in TLGM, with their characters, classes, gear scores, servers, build links and gear-score history
- Supported DKP balances and their ledger
- Activities, attendance from TLGM's export, supported recurring schedules and party assignments
- Static parties
- Tasks, which become guild quests, with their completions
- Current wishlists
- Applications, leave of absence records and guild news
- Loot history: settled auction wins, roll wins and bank items that were already handed out become each member's loot history
What stays in TLGM
- Individual bids and dice rolls. The winners come across, the sessions do not.
- Items still sitting in the guild bank
- Loot council sessions and votes
- VOD reviews, gear screenshots, application messages and task reports
- Reusable party types and presets
- DKP decay history. Decay is off after the move until you set it up again.
- Former members who had already left the TLGM guild
DKP with decimals is rounded to whole numbers. Export anything else you want to keep before you close the TLGM guild. TLGM's migration guide lists how much attendance history its export includes.
If something goes wrong
If the copy does not finish, the page says so and sends you back to TLGM to see what happened and try again. If a guild has started a copy recently, you may need to wait an hour before the next attempt. Billing and very long recurring schedules sometimes need support's help, and the page tells you when to contact us.
After the move
Your loot process works the way it did, with a few additions. Our guide to distributing Throne and Liberty boss loot in GuildManager covers auctions, loot rolls, loot council and wishlists, including Potential Ability goals.
