Monsters & Memories guild guide: plan a camp people can reach
Prepare M&M camps with useful character details, role coverage, travel instructions, replacements, and named-target loot agreements.
A Monsters & Memories camp needs more than enough names on a signup list. The group must reach the destination, cover its responsibilities, and agree on how the evening ends. Plan those details before members commit to the trip.
Start with the character, not a synthetic score
Ask for server, character name, race, class, level, usual play times, and the roles the player is prepared to cover. Keep the character’s sheet in context. Health, mana, armor class, attributes, resistances, and carried weight answer different readiness questions.
Read our character-sheet guide for a practical review process. Do not collapse every reading into an invented gear score. A useful review starts with the camp’s needs and the member’s actual setup.
Know who can make the supplies
Record the current numeric levels of the tradeskills your members actually use. Ask separately about gathering, refining materials, crafting equipment and utility skills. A skilled miner and a skilled blacksmith fill different parts of a supply chain; one name on the roster does not guarantee both are covered.
In Guild Manager, add those levels to the character’s Tradeskills section and use the crafting directory to find the right member. Leave an unknown level blank. Enter zero when that is the character’s actual level. Update the values when members make progress, rather than treating a volunteered specialty as a permanent promise.
Before an outing, agree on who brings materials, who handles the combine, and what happens if ingredients are consumed without the desired result. Skill levels help you find candidates; confirm the recipe and requirements with the crafter before collecting contributions.
Write a camp brief
Name the zone and destination, travel route or meeting landmark, gathering time, intended duration, and group objective. Link directions that members can follow. The official New Player Guide is the first reference for navigation and basic systems.
Confirm who will tank, heal, pull, control additional enemies, and cover other support responsibilities. A six-person planning target is useful for ordinary groups; a particular named-target outing may need a different attendance plan. Set the capacity deliberately.
For a learning camp, allow time for travel and explanation. For farming, agree on the stopping time and whether the group will wait for replacements.
Arrange replacements before someone leaves
Ask about early departures. Name who contacts a substitute and where the replacement should meet. Review whether they can reach the camp in time and cover the missing role. One character’s ability to perform several tasks does not create another available player.
Agree on named-target loot
Before a valuable drop, explain main-use priority, alternate-character eligibility, ties, and who records the recipient. Check the actual item’s restrictions before promising a trade or auction.
After the session, save the camp outcome, outstanding loot decision, and next objective. Review the recurring shortage, whether it is support coverage, travel preparation, or a predictable departure. Recruit or change the camp plan for that specific problem.
Put the plan into practice
